Mac So Sweet Collection

I'm no MAC fan boy, only possessing 4 products from them including these. Nor am I a hater, I love there imagery and concepts behind the releases.The pro image from this release was too much I loved it. I was anticipating this release for months. I know that there are a lot of hardcore mac fans and on the flip side the people who have begun to hate Mac due to the constant flood of new releases. It's hard to get sucked into the hype surrounding the launches. I know I do but some how they never look quite the same in person or one me(bummer). I love cute bright girly colors. I picked up a few pieces. I'm thinking I should have gotten In Sync lipliner but it's not critical since it's now a permeant color.

I missed out on Naked lipliner when it was first time it was released. Since I have very pale skin it's hard to find a lipliner that will look light against my skin tone. It's like a slightly peachy toned light flesh tone. It's hard to see it on my skin but I really like the effect on my lips. It's just what I was looking for.

I've also wanted a bright pink lipstick for a long time. I wanted a bright true light pink. Most of the ones I tried skewed to much towards purple or were to pastel. I planned on getting Girl About Town if I couldn't find a better pink. After seeing the Spring/Summer bright lips trend my need became a must. Lucky for me I meet Candy Yum Yum. When I saw this lipstick in store it was love at first sight. It's a WOW that's bright color. It's crazy obnoxious color but some how remains pretty cute.

Summary- Being the first time I've bought any MAC lipsticks or lipliners I don't know how they compare with others in the range. But I'm loving these two products. There exactly what I wanted.

Bobbie Brown Eyeshadow Pallet

I recently bought 4 pan pallet from Bobbie Brown. Along with purchased a shimmer wash shadow in Ivory and a matte shadow in Birch. I popped out my much loved najavo and espresso. Completing my BB pallet. I love BB's shadows they're my HG. The colors are very flattering and there's a lot of subtle variations of colors. The shadows are highly pigmented with a soft velvety texture. Unlike many other pigmented shadows they are not prone to crumbing and fall down.

I've thought about getting a pallet for a while but it was hard to decide between 3, 4 or 6 pans. Originally I thought of getting a 6 pan: blush, 2 shimmer and 3 mattes. But after trying MUFE's HD Blushes I suddenly lost interest in all others. I decided to pair down my choices and get a 4 pan pallet. I love the size, it is very slick and portable. At the same time the shadows are a nice size and the mirror is huge.

"Ivory is a creamy white"

Ivory is the perfect bright shimmery ivory. It's very pigment without being powdery or chalky which is problem with alot of white shadows. Ivory is also bright without being stark. It's the most perfect shimmering white.

"Najavo is a creamy pinkish white"

It is a nearly white pinkish badge. When its applied to the lid, it evens out the skin tone without reading as a distinct shade.

"Birch is a soft brown"
Birch is a neutral midtone brown with the slightest hint of warmth. It's a great crease or eyebrow color.

"Espresso is a dark chocolate brown"
Here I think the company descrition fits. It's a as close to black while still remaing brown. Espresso is great as a liner color

Summary - I find it really hard to find high quality matte shadow and I have yet to find an equal to these shadows.I am extremely satisfy with this purchase although it is an expensive purchase totaling in around $90. Which seems insane, but the colors suit me so well that I find it hard to do my makeup without reaching for this pallet. This is the kind of pallet that you would want to think very carefully about and definitely test out the colors in-store.

Summer Must Have: Sunscreen

First of all, I have fairly pale skin(NW20). I do burn easily and like to protect my skin. I've tried tons of sunscreen both high and low end. My favorite is the new Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Sunblock SPF 70. It has everything I want in a sunscreen: high SPF feels like nothing, dries matte, and good price.

Before this I used Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 70. But its weird and heavy on my skin. Also it breaks me out if I wear it everyday. It's a creamy white formula and really needs to be worked into the skin to prevent it from leaving a white cast on you skin. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch wasn't all bad, it was the one sunscreen that completely protected my skin. I've never burned once with it.

I decided to look for a new sunscreen. I've tried Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion and found it to be very greasy and I still burned when wearing it. I recently tried Clinique Sun SPF 30 Face Cream I liked it. It was a little greasy, low SPF but it didn't feel that bad on. I had the trail size with a gift set and was going to get the full size till I tried the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Sunblock.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Sunblock is perfect for me and my needs from a sunscreen. It's weightless and dries to a matte/natural finish. Surprisingly it actually makes my skin feel softer after putting.

The IMATS 2010 Experience

Overall IMATS was definitely worth going and checking out. We just bought the single day exhibition hall pass. To us it wasn't worth it to get a full pass because we are just cosmetic enthusiasts or prosumers. We're no professionals. Youtube and other online tutorials are good enough for us. IMATS is the most unorganized convention that we've been to. Most of the people that were in line were either confuse or hoped that they were in the correct line. The line went by very slow and the employee that were manning the lines were not very helpful in helping people to their appropriate line. IMATS is located in Pasadena even though the event said IMATS LA. It is a small convention center compare to other convention center like San Diego, LA, and Anahiem.

The Makeupforever line was insanely slow but the line was very well organized considering how many costumer that they had to process at a single time. We would advise you to check your order before you pay. We heard that some people got the wrong product when they were processing their transaction. We had a minor errors in our orders and we just told them that we were missing a blush and they were gladly to recheck our order and gave us our blush. Also, get here early or you won't get your product... Makeupforever line is the LONGEST line that you'll run into at IMATS.

With OCC cosmetics, we would advise you to get there early because due to the consistency of the lip tars and the pigmentation of the lip tars... about half way through the day the booth that had all the tubes would look like a two years old played with them and it would just look gross.

We would advise in making a wish list or researching the products or brands that you're interested in so you won't go to the event and be overwhelm and winding up getting stuff that you didn't intend. BUT once you get over the initial spending shock of how much you've spent.... you would regret not checking out some booth or some items that you might've wanted but was low on budget.

If you intend to go to IMATS next year... we would advise to make a TOP 10 or TOP 5 list to make sure that you would get those items.

H&M Polishes Review, Photos + Swatches

I saw swatches online and I decided I had to get 'Bella's Choice' which is a bright teal creme. I find alot of pastel or 'bright' blue, greens and teal are too dusty for my taste or neon. I final found it in my local H&M and it looked pretty in the bottle as well.

I also bought a bright blue creme called "U Must Have This". I would agree it's a must have color. I love it. The consistency isn't bad, its on the thick side so be warned but I don't fine it to hard to work with. I need about 2 coats for a opaque no streak finish. The finish isn't great it's a little dull not a matte or satin like you get with neon polish it's just dull. But I always use a top coat anyways so it doesn't matter for me. I was so impressed with the colors I went back and pick up another color "Check Me Out" which is a bright coral creme. It's light/bright enough not to look just like a orange red and has enough pink/red tone to prevent it from looking orange. I do love coral but till now I have not found a shade I liked. Each polish is $4.95 for 0.3oz.

I would give the colors an A+. To the overall polish I would give an A. I plan to buy more colors most likely "Latte 2 Go", "Cashmere for me" or "Pink Mist" if I see it. "All eyes on me" is a nice bright fushia pink but it's not that unquie of a color so I have not bought it. All the different location have different selection. Nail Polish Rant- review & photos

After China Glaze the Up and Away I fell back in love with nail polish.I'm obsessed with creme nail polishes. I love the spring/summer nail trends. Pinky corals, pastels, mint greens and blues teals make me happy:) I bought Heli-Yum, Sugar High, Something Sweet,Re-Fresh Mint, and Happy Go Lucky
(left to right). My favorite originally was Sugar High, it is a bright pink with a coral undertone. It was a little too coral for my skin tone(I'm very pale with yellow undertones). But I tried it on my cousin(tan skin) amazing! It looked like it should be bright beautiful young summery pink. My favorite now is Heli-Yum it's a raspberry red. It reads like a soft red on my skin and I love it. Re-Fresh mint is also lovely light minty green. I mainly use it on the tips as a colored french. Happy Go Lucky is bright yellow. I plan to use it more in the summer, currently I feel like softer colors. Something Sweet is the cool tone light pink almost a lilac. Not really my favorite.

From Maybelline's Sweet Thing collection I got Sweetie Pie, Bubble Pink,Pink Sophistication, Pie in the Sky,and Goody Plum Drop (left to right). Sweetie Pie is my favorite coral shade. It's also a pastel version of Sugar High. I've also heard it's suppose to be a dupe for MAC's Seasonal Peach. Bubble Pink is a true baby pink. It's more what I expected from Something Sweet. Pie in the Sky is some where in between a mid-tone blue and a light blue. I wish it was brighter or lighter. I plan on mixing it. Pink Sophistication is a bright blue tone pink in the same family as Bubble Pink. Goody Plum Drop is mid-tone lilac purple with micro shimmer. Sadly the brush in my bottle was messed up.

I also bought a Revlon Nail Polish in Peach Smoothie. I thought is was going to be a pretty peach. I hated it so much I returned it. In the bottle it's nice, it goes on dull and strange pale orange.

Another disappointing color was OPI's My Private Jet I loved the color in bottle but it wasn't anything special swatched. I exchanged it for OPI's Mr and Mrs Mimosa a soft natural pink tone nude. I love it!!! It's the everything I wanted in a nude color. I also picked up two OPI reds Big Apple Red and Vodka & Caviar. Both reds are the same intense but different undertones Vodka & Caviar is a blue tone while Big Apple Red is orange tone. I prefer Vodka & Caviar but both are nice.
